Ameca splendens Video

Truly a beatiful fish, this was brought back recently.  Becoming less often seen in the hobby,
it is also thought to be close to extinction in the wild. The fine markings on the females
make this a particularly attractive goodeid, as well as the yellow stripe in the tail of the males.

This "Select Aquatics Presents" Video on the Ameca splendens covers their care, and an overview on
keeping Goodeids, and why you should make an effort to breed Pet Store Fish!

Once common in the hobby  and occasionally available commercially, the original pure wild line
is not often seen. An easy, hardy goodeid to keep and breed, they rarely bother their young.
